Question 2.
(a) Figure 2.1 below shows a Wireshark screen capture of a typical Secure Socket Layer (SSL) handshake and data exchanges between a client and a server:
(i) For each of the first 8 Ethernet frames, specify the source of the frame (client or server), determine the number of SSL records that are included in the frame, and list the SSL record types that are included in the frame. [15%]
(ii) Draw a timing diagram between client and server, with one arrow for each SSL record. [15%]

(b) The Authentication Vector (AV) generation in the Authentication Centre (AuC) is an important aspect of the 3G (3GPP) security system:
(i) Draw a diagram illustration the generation of AV.
(ii) Explain the usage of algorithms f1, f2, f3, f4, f5. [5%] [5%, about 200 words]
(iii) Explain the reasons for the generation of the MAC, Authentication Token (AUTN) and the AV.
(c) Derive the following relationship;
DR = 3 N
Where:
D represents distance between co-channel cells, R is radius of a cell
N represents frequency re-use (cluster size).
(d) Derive a simple relationship between frequency re-use (cluster size) and C/I where C is carrier frequency power and I is interference power.
