Project Objectives

To reinforce the knowledge gained throughout the course.

Reinforce and enhance your FileMaker and database knowledge
Requirements
-
Create a many to many database (minimum 3 tables, minimum 10 records each)
-
Proper field definitions and data validation must be used. (you must have at least one date field and a field that is a pop-up menu that will display two different fields (see demo))

Each table must have a data entry layout.

Proper database design must be followed.
-
Must have a minimum of 2 scripts per table. (Be creative, they should not ALL be sort scripts)
-
Must have a dialog box for data entry in at least one table (Bonus if using a “Card”)

Create a graph to demonstrate an aspect of the database.

Create a colour scheme and use throughout. https://coolors.co/ or
https://color.adobe.com/create/color-wheel

Layouts should show the one-to-many relationships. Minimum of one. (Portals)

Create a minimum of one summary field and the appropriate parts for at least one table layout.

Create a global navigation button bar.

Include a pop-over and tabs or a slider in at least one layout
-
Scripts that create new records, find records, sort records.

Use a Data Viewer to display a webpage, a map
-
Follow the Basic Design principles for each layout you create. (Non-Designers Design)

Create an overview video demonstrating and explaining your project. You can upload it to YouTube or to your public_html on student.cs.uwaterloo.ca and submit this link to us.

Create your database in FileMaker – define your fields and relationships

Add a minimum of 10 records to your tables. Mar 18-22
• Plan the layouts and scripts that you will need for your database and start implementing.
March 25-29

Continue working on your project to meet all requirements.

Start making it look pretty. Choose a colour scheme, implement a template and
styles for your database.
April 1-8

Add the finishing touches to your project

Create a video demonstrating your project and its functionality.

Submit your project (Dropbox)* and video link (Quiz) to Learn.
